Frequently asked questions
Will it find all personal data?
It finds data written as text, including in the invisible text layer of scans. It can’t find text in images without recognized text or handwritten details – redact those manually with the Redact tool. Always check the result.
Why wasn’t a number found?
Birth numbers and account numbers must pass a checksum, so a number with a typo or a made-up one is skipped. Phone and account numbers are only recognized in Czech/Slovak formats (IBANs from any country). Search for such numbers as your own text, or redact them manually.
Can I undo a redaction?
In the editor, yes – until you download the document, for example with Ctrl+Z (on a Mac ⌘+Z). The removed data is no longer in the downloaded file.
What happens to pages with redactions?
They’re converted to an image so that no text remains under the redactions. Their text can then no longer be selected or searched. Other pages stay unchanged.
Who can see my document?
Only you and anyone you send the link to. The document is edited in your browser and only ever reaches our server encrypted. The copy deletes itself one hour after your last edit. Learn more in our privacy policy.
